Reeva Misra (Executive Director)
Reeva has a BA in Experimental Psychology from Oxford University and an MA in Technology and Policy from Yale University. She focuses on how technology can be used for social good and is currently working for an artificial intelligence startup in London. Reeva spent time in India working on gender-based discrimination and human rights issues. When she is not working, she loves travelling, doing yoga and being in nature.
Rashmani Singh (Managing Director)
Rashmani Singh is passionate about universal education. Over the years, she has built up a strong network with elite schools in India as well as with schools for the under-privileged. Rashmani has personally funded the education of several underprivileged children at schools in Delhi and Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh. She has also mentored and tutored the children of her staff members.
Mariya (Programme Coordinator)
Hailing from a small village in Uttar Pradesh-Mohammadabad, Mariya has been brought up in a creative and a socially active family. She is the product of an interdisciplinary education, after her B.A. in English Literature from Kamala Nehru College she pursued Masters in Environment and Development from Ambedkar University Delhi. She is extremely passionate about working for underprivileged children in the field of education. She strongly believes that for children, especially those coming from a challenging background, education is the only mean to a healthy and a productive upbringing. She enjoys bird watching and reading, theatre on the other hand is her yoga. She is proactive and keen to learn, wishing to make a positive contribution to society.
Rajeev Misra (Board Member)
Rajeev has a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. He also holds an MBA from the Sloan School of Management, Massachussetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA.
Rajeev is currently the Head of Strategic Finance for SoftBank Group. Previously, he served as Global Head of Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) at UBS between 2009 and 2013. Rajeev also spent over ten years at Deutsche Bank - most recently as Global Head of Credit Trading, Securitization and Commodities and a member of the Global Markets Executive Committee. Rajeev is a member of the board for UPenn and MIT.
Professor Mike Knowles FRSA (Board Member)
Professor Knowles is a known interior architect, specialising in furniture design, but above all else he is an avid believer in the power of Design Education and Design Thinking. As great Design Thinking, along with Innovation, comes from making he passionately supports the role of the artisan in societal progression. Equally he has grown to recognise that those whom society has chosen not to favour, the poor and disadvantaged, are in fact the richest source of true Innovation on the planet. Shalini Misra (Board Member)
Shalini has a B.Arch degree from The School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi and M.Sc from the University College London UCL in London. Shalini has worked in New Delhi, New York and London as an architect and interior designer before setting up her own practice, Shalini Misra Ltd which is an architectural, Real estate and Interior design practice . The driving force behind Vahani Scholarship along with her husband Mr Rajeev Misra and daughter Ms Reeva Misra .
Bhavna Bharmi (Board Member)
Dr. Bhavna Barmi is an internationally well-renowned practicing child and clinical psychologist. She graduated from Lady Sri Ram College and furthered her Ph D in Psychology along with an MPhil in medical and social psychology from NIMHANS, Bangalore.
She is a practicing hypnotherapist and had attained her degree from the California School of Hypnotherapy. She is the Sr. Clinical Psychologist at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute for the past 18 years. Bhavna Barmi specializes in conducting Stress Management workshop and Life Style management Programs in India and Overseas with corporate houses.She has conducted educational seminars, trainings and workshops for educational institutions and schools (approx 300 schools across the country, reaching out to about 30lakh students). Dr. Bhavna Barmi heads Psycare and Mind Track (A Rehab Center for Mental Health and Psycho social and addiction concerns).
Jaishree Misra (Board Member)
Jaishree Misra has an MA in English Literature from Kerala University and two post-graduate diplomas from the University of London, in Special Education and Broadcast Journalism. She has worked in child protection, special needs, broadcast & print journalism and as a film classifier. She has also written eight novels published by Penguin and Harper Collins and edited an anthology of writings on motherhood as a fund-raising venture for Save the Children, India. www.jaishreemisra.com
Sonam Youdol (Board Member)
Sonam Youdol is 27 years old and is from the village Shang, Ladakh. She is currently working as an Executive in a Tour and Travel Company. Sonam enjoys travelling and interacting with new people. She herself was part of a scholarship program that allowed her to attend to Delhi University and graduate in Political Science. She has completed her Masters in Political Science. Therefore, she is an important mentor and role model to the Vahani Scholars. In her future she wants to do something for her people of Ladakh.
